I am one lucky chick to have such creative & inpsiring friends. When I got engaged I knew that I wanted someone really special to take my engagement/wedding photos. Good thing I know some really amazing people!

First up- Mrs. Melanie Barlow. (Former Warner) You probably have heard of her. Simply for the fact that I have mentioned her in close to 20+ of my blog posts. She is my other half and oh HEY she got her Bachelors in photography/fine arts from UVU. I am so excited that in Februrary she will be taking my engagement pictures. Second up- Mr. Marcello Ambriz. Marcello is so full of talent and creativity he practically bleeds genius. He does a ton of concert and band photography, but has taken BEAUTIFUL pictures from weddings. I am so excited to have him on board to take my wedding pictures. And I feel pretty fortunate to say that my wedding photographer has snapped pictures for 311, Sublime & Red Hot Chili Peppers. Yes. That is golden right there. Catherines 2012 resolutions

I don't usually make New Years resolutions. Okay let me rephrase that...I don't usually accomplish my New Years resolutions. But last year I posted mine on here and taking a look back, I am dang proud of myself. I accomplished at least a few!

Let me remind you of those...
Catherines 2011 resolutions

I think my attitude was positive more frequently, and instead of 15 lbs to lose, I only have 7 to get rid of now. Ive been writing in my journal religiously, and reading the Book of Mormon. The one resolution I wont mention, had something to do with not shopping so frequently at H&M, but remember....we weren't going to talk about it. So there you have it. I can plan and succeed. I can strive, persevere and conquer. I am superwoman.

Okay, this is getting out of hand, im taking two steps back, removing my crown and making my new 2012 list. Actually on second thought, the tiara looks really good and I type more royally in costume, so here we go!...

Catherines 2012 New Years Resolutions

1. Get rid of these last few lbs. They have been holding me back from sporting really cute sundresses and spandex bike shorts. Oh, bike shorts aren't in fashion anymore? ...okay.

2. Stay connected with my lovely friends. And that doesn't mean just texting and facebook. Even though their fb status just told me that they were having a ham sandwich for lunch, sometimes I will need to enjoy a ham sandwich in their physical PRESENCE.

3. Make a conscious effort to be more domestic. I'm slowly realizing that I will need to provide something edible for Mr. Buhler in 4 months. If a prayer before every meal preparation is necessary, so be it.

4. Grow out my hair. When I was in elementary school, my hair used to be long and fell in lovely wavy curls. As I grew up, I chopped it, dyed it, styled it, and continually kept cutting it. Ive had it at about this length for a good 5 years and im needing a change. Long, and hopefully curly hair will be in my future.

5. Try new things more often. I am somewhat a creature of habit. I shop at the same stores, I buy the same products, I enjoy the same kind of books. No more. 2012 is going to bring a whole new Catherine. I vow to casually stroll through Anchor Blue and Windsor in the mall every now and then, use dove soap instead of the generic brand, and check out a mystery novel instead of my usual drama/romance category. Oh my. All this change talk is giving me heart palpitations.

6. Manage my stress. On a overloaded day of errands, clients, and gossipy coworkers, I frequently turn into a big ball of anxiety. In 2012 I am going to find ways to cope with the craziness in a healthier attitude. Lighting a scented candle, going for a walk or getting a massage. Oh yes, in order to manage my stress I will need to be rubbed from head to toes. What a great reason to get pampered. This year is going to be amazing!

So there you have it. My resolutions. Get fit, grow some strands, cook a casserole, chat with a BFF, try tofu instead of chicken, pamper instead of stress. These are totally conquerable! In fact, im not even overwhelmed. At least I don't have to add quit smoking or drinking to my resolution list. I'll drink to that! Martinellis of course...Happy New Year!!!

Peyton is a mechanical engineer. In a short description, this means his mind is constantly operating at a fast pace on how he can work, repair and build things. You give the man a pencil and he can show you 27 different things you can do with it. Im glad his brain works this way, you give ME a pencil and I will casually ask you where the nearest pen is located.

This Christmas I opened a special gift from Mr. Creative only to be delighted with a homemade 3D popup book of our recent trip to Thailand. I wanted to cry with happiness looking at it. Part of my tears branched from the fact that my future life with this man will never be boring.

This was one of my favorite presents I have ever been given. He is constantly amazing me with his intellect and imaginative ways. Mickey Mouse is very lucky to have him on his team as part of the thought process at Disneyland. I can only imagine what he would do with those pencils...

Wedding for dummies

I get married in 4 1/2 months. The countdown is on! The holidays were a nice excuse in order to put my wedding planning aside. But Christmas came and went, and the wedding is getting closer.

Do I have a venue? Yes.

Do I have a groom? Yes.

Do I have a dress? Yes.

Do I have a date? Yes.

Do I have a sane mind? No.

You really don't know how much planning there is involved with a wedding, until a ring gets put on your finger. (A pretty ring at that... One I can't stop looking at, actually). Here look at it for a second.

See what I mean? Its a definite distraction.

Wedding planning has been at the top of my thoughts for a good 2 months. What do you mean people can't eat with their fingers? We actually have to order silverware in bulk? Who is Mrs. Blackmore? And why is she occupying a rented chair for $1.50 and eating my carefully crafted cake? Oh...she babysat me for the first 4 years of my life? Okay...I guess she can partake.

Where do you order invitations from? Isn't there a National Wedding Society where they send you an advocate so you don't drive your fiance insane with all the preperations? Not to mention the fact that your hormones are flying through your body while getting used to the birth control you have started taking.

I was looking through a wedding blog in where lovely couples flew with their immediate family to a dream like destination and exchanged vows completely stress free while wearing a white sundress she just casually picked up from Marshalls.

Although we'd have to make the exception of a Temple, this idea sparked curisosity. You mean they didn't lose sleep over a guest list? They didn't have to rush around looking for last minute taupe colored ribbon? They got to frolic in the sand and dance by the moonlight? Where do I sign up and how soon can I head to Marshalls to get that dress?

In all seriousness, although eloping is extremely tempting I would never. I love the thought of all my friends & family standing outside a temple waiting for me to walk out with my beloved to partake in the joy of my "newly -taken for eternity- status." I can't wait to throw that bouquet to the next lucky girl who can soon start planning her nuptuals. (Cause that's how it works, right?) I can't wait to hand feed Peyton a delicious piece of cake and spend too much time deciding on the perfect way to wear my hair. I can't wait to be dancing to our first song with everyone partaking in my happiness.

And I know when I drive away from the reception, towards my honeymoon and future of happy times as a Mrs., I know without a doubt that all the sleepless nights and anxiety attacks over my bouquet will be worth it. Being in Peytons arms knowing that ill get to do that for an eternity will make me one elated chick. So lets rephrase this...

Am I all ready for my wedding? No.

Do I have all of my ideas? No.

Do I know what my reception will look like? No.

Am I grateful I have the opportunity to be a bride and partake in a day of joy and love? YES! YES! & YES!

I know, I mention this site too much. Probably to the point where they should imburse me for my shout outs. Or at least give me some kind of stock in the company, but whatever. I just think its an incredible, amazing, happy way to waste some free time! I mean there are no limits to what you pin. For those old people, (Okay sorry, not old, MATURE) Pinterest is a virtual pinboard where you "pin" beautiful and inspiring things that you find on the web. Jamel becomes eternal

My beautiful best friend Melanie got married. To a handsome boy named Jacob. (Jacob + Melanie = Jamel ). Get it??

I was involved in their proposal... let me remind you of that fabulous night!

On October 29th we returned to that lovely LA temple for them to seal the deal. Make things official. Exchange covenants and promise an eternity to eachother.

My lovely sister did Melanies hair and makeup so I was able to see her get ready, nerves and all! Colleen did an amazing job.

Melanie was a breathtaking bride! See?

When the happy couple walked out of the Temple their smiles said a thousand words! I was overcome with emotion of seeing these two make the biggest commitment to eachother.

See, I saw this relationship from the very beginning. When Jacob was just a boy who came home for the summer. The boy who played footsies with my BFF secretly while at a group dinner. The boy who got on a plane to take her on a first date. Little did we know, Jacob would make her a Mrs. so they could play footsies for eternity! Jacob and Melanie are perfect for eachother and I am so happy that I was able to share their special day with them.

I don't mind sharing my best gal with such a great guy. I love you both to pieces.

Here's to eternity!

October 28th, Mr. Buhler propsed marriage to me.

It was a scavenger hunt of places we have gone on dates. Each destination had one of our friends waiting there with my next clue. He even arranged for my BFF Jonathan to escort me, and a vintage rolls royce complete with chauffer to drive us around. The hunt ended with Peyton in front of a fireplace dressed in a suit with candles and roses surrounding him.

It was magical. A complete surprise and the happiest night of my life. I could not be more excited to spend eternity with this man.

Im getting married!

Prayer changes everything

Things don't always go perfectly. The days don't always run smooth. There are road bumps, blocks, forks and potholes. I was having a particularly hard day at work this past week and a quote kept popping up into my head...

I wouldn't be off for another 4 hours so I decided to call upon my Heavenly Father right away. I closed the door to my treatment room, hoping my client would wait 5 more minutes and hopefully no one would knock. As people walked by my room every few seconds chatting about their relaxation or the newest gossip, I felt an emotion that can only be described as the pure love of Christ. Its true what they say. You find comfort and strength through Him in the least obvious of places.

I find myself in certain circumstances completely bewildered on what to do next. Im confused on where its heading and I don't know where to turn. The hymn that almost always gives me the simple answer is...

Sure, a prayer may not hand you a heafty sum to pay your mortgage, it may not give you instant examples of where to live, who to marry or who to date but it gives you enough strength at that moment to continue to live until you get that answer.

Turning to the Lord only when in need is something to not let become a habit. Elder David A. Bednar states-

"Let me recommend that periodically you and I offer a prayer in which we only give thanks and express gratitude. Ask for nothing; simply let our souls rejoice and strive to communicate appreciation with all the energy of our hearts"

I love this! I find myself all too often turning to the Lord in doubt or worry without thanking him for all that I have been given. Remembering to be humble and thankful is something im striving to work more on.

Im so thankful for the power of prayer and how I know that on a busy workday when I think nothing else can go wrong, SOMETHING can go right if I only think to pray.

Lucky girl vent session

5 things I love about Peyton ---

1). He can play the piano. I love listening to him play.

My heart melted a little when he played "My heart will go on."

Seriously. This boy has skills.

2). He bakes the BEST chocolate chip cookies.

Its a family tradition recipe and he finally made them for me.

They are super yummy!

3). He loves his Nieces and Nephews.

(There are 8 of them!) And they love playing with Uncle Peyton!

4). He is super attractive.

5). He makes me laugh SO much...

its probably one of my favorite things about him.

The attack of the hearts

I have a really cute boyfriend. He makes me happy, and he lives in Hong to the Kong. (I feel like im repeating myself, but there may be new readers joining us, so hang in there!)

He got to come home between work projects for a glorious month & a half. He builds rides for Disneyland. He spends LOTS of time at the happiest place. And now hes spending time in California and making ME the happiest girl!

I was going to be at work when he landed from his 14 hour flight and wanted him to come home to something that would make his jetlagged self smile.

Enter:

operation heart attack.

I cut out hearts for a good 3 days, and decided to enlist some really good helpers to tag along. (Thank you sweet friends, Liz Dunn & Melanie Warner!)

We decided to stick these puppies up EVERYWHERE.

Putting up hearts is tiring! We may or may not have had a gossip session on Peytons bed for a few minutes...

Love these girls so much.

I left him chocolate covered strawberries in his fridge. They weren't Disneyland special ones...but they were made with love. YUMMY LOVE!

We even put a heart on Mickey Mouse himself!

The night was a total sucess (Complete with cafe rio and a flat tire...Thank you, AAA!)

I am so glad to have my man home and all to myself for the next little bit.!

rolo pretzel chocolate goodness thingys

Tried a new recipe from pinterest for Hillary Millers Mission Farewell. These were super easy and turned out pretty gosh dang delicious...if I do say so myself. And I do.

step one- put rolo on pretzel. I know this is complicated. Try and keep up, k?

Heres a closer picture so you can fully follow the directions. Get out your ruler and make sure they are in the exact middle of the pretzel. Kidding. Were you seriously going to measure them? God bless you.

step 2- put in oven, 350 degrees for 5 minutes. (Will still have the shape of rolo but will be soft).

step 3- pull out and squish a pecan on each.

step 4- It will Look like your hunting for the golden ticket. (Insider tip: You will not find it).

step 5- drizzle melted milk chocolate on top, may be white chocolate as well.

step 6- Wait about 10 minutes before serving. Can be put in fridge to set up.

step 7- These are fun size treats, so have fun and eat about 10 of them.

step 8- Lay on couch with a sweet tooth coma.

step 9- bow down to Catherine for sharing her culinary expertise with you. You will be a hit at the next party. Your welcome.

Pleasures of guilt

Recently I was talking with a friend about guilty pleasures. It was an enjoyable conversation and I left feeling a little lame and completely satisfied. See, everyone has things they hate to love. Whether its game shows or fruit roll ups, its the little things that make you a better person. Things that you dont necessarily admit to others. Im here to admit my guilty pleasures, proudly and enthusiastically. And secretly, I know you will be right there with me, nodding your head in agreement. Dont be embaressed. Its life. And sometimes the guilty pleasures are the only thing that get you through the day.

Here are some of mine, in no specific order.

Americas funniest home videos - Like the rest of the American race, I enjoy watching others suffer pain and fall down. Does that make me a bad person or just have a simple frame of humor? Who cares, I love it.

The project of happiness

I just read the greatest book, and had to release my feelings. Its called "The Happiness Project."

Gretchen Rubin was a middle aged woman with two children, married living in New York and working as a lawyer turned writer. She sat down one day and asked herself the question

"am I really truly happy?"

She realized that yes, she was happy, but she found herself yearning for more and to not forget how fortunate she was. She decided that every month she would dedicate her life to a few goals and resolutions that she wanted to tackle.

For example; in January she would go to sleep earlier, exercise better, toss restore and organize, tackle a nagging task and act more energetic. Every month she changed the topic and focused on resolutions on that subject, such as, work, children, love, energy, health, etc.

When I started reading this book, her optimism was extremely infectious. (Even though it was in writing). She realized she had things she wasn't perfect at, and she wanted a change. The book is full of tidbits about happiness and how it is so much deeper than just a random emotion. I was constantly having an "Oprah" AHA! Moment, and highlighting like crazy. My book looks like it has been through a children's coloring rampage.

Some of my favorite quotes from the book really put happiness into perspective for example-

" One is not always happy when one is good; but one is always good when one is happy."

"Its part of being human, isn't it? And more particularly so in the world we live in- we see so much of what other people do, have, are...But then there's the majority of humanity who have SO MUCH LESS than us- we are the rich, privileged west. That usually sobers me up when I start comparing my material situation to that of others who have X, Y or Z."

"One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make other people happy.

One of the best ways to make other people happy is to be happy yourself."

(BIG HUGE LIGHTBULB GOING OFF IN CATHERINES HEAD).

Gretchen also talks about having a list of

personal commandments.

I came up with a few of my own.

Forget the past
talk to strangers
stay in touch
stop the venting and complaining
go outside
give thanks: for the ordinary and the extraordinary
Be the kind of woman ill want my future daughters to be.
choose not to take things personally
Imagine my eulogy: how do I want to be remembered?
What would I do if I weren't scared?
Be specific about my needs.
Giving without limits, give without expectations.
Let it go

As she goes through each month and her goals tackle her problems such as money, her marriage, her friendships and her health she comes to the realization of "by pushing myself to be mindful of my happiness, I can truly experience it."

This book was a huge wake up call for me. I realized in my own life that I was living in the moment, but not fully appreciating the world around me, and the things that truly make me happy. The joy I get from reading, spending time with family, creating better bonds with friends, enjoying my amazing boyfriend, and looking at the positives of my fortunate life.

I don't know if ill exactly complete a happiness project of my own with specific goals for each month, but I did walk away with the conscious decision to change the way I view the world. I need a positive attitude, a smile, some jokes, and determination to be better at whatever I do. For once I feel in control of my own happiness, obtaining it, truly appreciating it and enjoying the emotion I feel on a daily basis. Because lets be honest, it may not be a good day, every day, but there is something good in every day. If you get a chance, definitely read this book. You can also go to her website,

Recently I woke up and didn't feel all that fantastic. I had a stuffy nose and my throat hurt so i decided to take a sick day, which was actually not that hard, considering im not employed at the moment.

See, in high school I used to call these sick days, "mental health days." The day where I would put on my most comfy pajamas and prepare myself for a full day of television. Oh the possibilities! Would I watch Maury or Dr. Phil? Theres always something I can count on for sure. And that is that at 11:00 im watching Bob Barker.

How many eight-year olds know a can of chickpeas costs eighty-nine cents? How many twelve-year old can tell you the features of a new solid oak armoire? And how many fourteen-year olds can estimate the value of an ice cream maker, new speedboat, and trip to Puerto Rico?

Well I'll tell you who, man: any kid with the flu.

The Price is Right is one massive set of games, prizes and tuna fish ads. But you find yourself cheering along and guessing the price of that leather ottoman, yelling for the big wheel to stop on $1.00, and crossing your fingers for the announcer to unveil a game of Plinko or yes...a new car!!!

And so wether you were six with the chicken pox, nine with the flu, twelve with a broken arm or 23 and named Catherine, you can always count on sixty solid minutes with the company of that old seventies set, and lots of one-dollar bets, all crunched into the best sick day game show yet! Hong Kong >> Phuket, Thailand

To end my 2 week vacation in HK , Pey and I went to Thailand for his birthday weekend. Peyton has been talking about Phuket for awhile and it was the perfect opportunity to go. We caught a plane early on Friday morning. It was my first time flying in business class. It was so fancy, with a pre lounge before we boarded with food and drinks. Then when we got on the plane (in comfy seats) and had a meal served to us and then fell asleep for the 3 hour plane ride from Hong Kong.

Yes, I am truly taking advantage of everything

business class has to offer. Thank you.

When we got there we took a taxi straight to our hotel.

We wanted to go to the beach right away. So we got on our bathing suits and walked to the beach which was about 5 minutes from our hotel. The water was amazing and was pretty warm.

We sat on the beach for awhile and then decided to head back to get ready to go to dinner.

We went and had cheap Thai Massages which was actually quite painful. Then we walked on the beach and got some street BBQ food skewers of pork and chicken.

That morning we got up super early and a car picked us up and took us to a marina where we had booked a canoe excursion on a speed boat. The boat picked us up and took us to an island that is from a James Bond film. They named it "James Bond Island." Not original, at all!

Peyton was very excited about this.

We got back in the boat and then it took us to this place where canoes (complete with men who paddle it for you) were waiting for us. We got to go in these really narrow caves, and then opened up into a grotto like opening. It was beautiful!

We got to get out and go walk around because the canoes wouldnt fit through the opening. Luckily, our paddler man enjoyed taking pictures for us. Sweet soul.

After the caves, we were taken to a Thai food place in the middle of nowhere, where we ate lunch. These resturaunts and shops were literally floating with nothing around them. Then the boat took us to a beach where we got to lay around and get in the water. After that the boat took us back to the marina and we went back to our hotel.

It was such a great day! After we got cleaned up, we went and got another set of Thai massages at a different place which were MUCH better this time. They really do fold you like a pretzel and stand on you to crack your body. It sounds painful but was surprisingly relaxing. Then we went to eat and were so tired we went back to our hotel where I gave Peyton his birthday present. It was a scrapbook I made. I was so glad I got to celebrate his Birthday with him. Happy 31, babe! You don't look a day over 25.

The next morning we woke up and got picked up and taken to this compound where we were going to ride elephants. I wasnt nervous until we actually got on the bench and started riding. I literally felt like we were going to get kicked off at any second. Every step was extreme. I guess they can't walk softly or tiptoe, I won't hold it against them.

After our elephant rider got off and wanted us to sit on the elephant. I can't believe I actually did it. I was terrified! I was scared Billie (our dumbo) was going to go crazy and gallop away knocking us both off. Luckily he didn't do that, and even posed for some pictures. Good Billie.

We got off and then got some pictures with a baby elephant. He was the cutest. We weren't expecting it but he grabbed our necks with his nose and gave us nose hickeys! It was the strangest feeling ever!

After we were taken to a giant buddah that was actually being reconstructed. We bought a tile where we could write our names on it and it would be incorporated into the building of the buddah. Its surreal that our names will forever be held in Thailand on a very large China man. I kinda love it.

We got taken back and had to catch our flight to go back to Hong Kong. The next day we had to say our goodbyes and I left to go home.

Our Thailand trip was amazing and the PERFECT way to end my vacation. Im so fortunate to have such an amazing man in my life where I got to see a different part of the world! I am one lucky chick. If you ever get to visit Thailand, make sure you check out Phuket. And if you ever run into our canoe paddler tell him the American couple that took a grip of pictures say hello!

Catherine goes International

My boyfriend lives in Hong Kong. You see, he assists Mickey Mouse and builds rides for Disneyland. He is what we call an Imagineer. We are 7,000 miles away from eachother. We have skype dates everyday. Technology is a fantastic thing, and I thank my lucky stars for it every morning I get to see his handsome smile.

We decided I needed to spend some time with him at his home base of HK. I just finished my nanny job, so it was pretty much perfect timing. After a 14 hour plane ride (which included 2 TV dinners and lots of sleeping) I couldn't wait to see his face!

We had our delightful reunion, and then we walked outside...If you have never been to Hong Kong in August let me explain something to you...80ish degrees...with usually a 70%ish humidity. It literally takes your breath away. And within 20 minutes you start to feel like you just got out of the shower. But we were on our way to see Disneyland and we had eachother, so we didn't really mind being hot sweaty messes.

The next day I was pretty much jetlagged so while Peyton was at work, I explored the Disneyland hotel and went to see what the pool had to offer. It was delightful. And actually ended up being where I spent every morning of my vacation.

The next day I took a giant cable car up a mountain to see a Giant Buddah. It was amazing! I also headed next door where they had a monestary. This was my first run in with the Hong Kong culture and I loved it! Although I think I sweated out half my body weight, it was such a good day.

The next week was full of Subway rides, walking, sight seeing, shopping and sweating. (No one drives in HK. They take the subway, bus, taxi, or walk). We got to check out the Hong Kong skyline which was the most breathtaking city I have ever seen. It beats LA. And you KNOW how much I love my LA!

A group asked us to take their picture, we did and then they insisted to take a picture with us. They emailed it to Peyton later in the week. They sure are friendly over there!

I visited some Buddhist temples that were so incredibly beautiful full of color and worshippers.

I also got to see Chi Lin Nunnery and Buddhist complex, I experienced...no Nuns or Buddhists.

I got to spend some time in Hong Kong Disneyland, which looked eerily a lot like the Anaheim location, except it served Korean squid instead of Corn dogs. A minor difference!

I spent a lot of time walking around the city shopping and looking at everything. There was so much to see! If you have never seen deep fried geese or a very fresh meat market you are missing out!

One night we took a cable car up to the top of a mountain called Victoria Peak that overlooks the city lights. It was an amazing view! And yes, this will remind you of the Dark Knight. Or so im told...ive never actually seen that movie.

I also got to visit the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Kowloon Park, as well as the Hong Kong Cultural Center.

It was an incredible vacation and I am so glad it was my first real international trip. Spending time with peyton was my favorite part of the 2 weeks I was there. Seeing him everyday and being with eachother in a different land was incredibly romantic.

The long distance isn't easy on either of us but experiences like this make us stronger than ever! Thank you, Hong Kong. You delivered. And thank you boyfriend, for living there so I had a good reason to leave the Country!

We ended my vacation with a side trip to Phuket Thailand which will have its own post. I have written too much already. If you have read all of this you either love me, or your a stalker. Be not afraid. Both are appreciated!

Oreo cheesecake cupcakes

The other day I was asked to bring desert to a dinner. As I have been spending too much time on pinterest, I found these little gems and decided to make them. They were also in Martha Stewarts official cupcake cookbook. Anything is good with Martha directing. Except her show, that thing is boring.

I documented the process for the following purposes.

1)- because my boyfriend doesn't truly know how domesticated I can be.

2) - I was hoping if they tasted like crap, at least they would look good.

Your welcome.

First the recipe calls for cream cheese. Lots of it.

Like, a total of 2 pounds. Your judging me. Stop it.

After that you add the rest of the ingredients.

Put an oreo on the bottom of a cupcake liner,

pour the mixture in and then bake it.

(Yeah, i bought the cheap off brand oreos.

Seriously, stop judging me.)

then put it in the fridge for 4+ hours. And then devour them.

There are two ways you can eat them. Serve them like a cupcake with whip cream on top, or take them out, flip them over and serve them like cheesecake. (Or the alternative, shovel them into your mouth at a ungodly speed while forgetting to breathe.)

So there you have it. Oreo cheesecake cupcakes. They actually turned out pretty tasty. And now I shall give you the recipe.

Makes 30

42 Oreo, cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, 30 left whole and 12 coarsely chopped
2 pounds cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
4 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten
1 cup sour cream
Pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 275° F. Line standard muffin tins with paper liners. Place 1 whole Oreo cookie in the bottom of each lined muffin cup.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, beat cream cheese on medium-high speed until smooth, scraping down sides of the bowl as needed. Gradually add the sugar, and beat until combined. Beat in the vanilla.
Drizzle in eggs, a little at a time, beating to combine and scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Add in sour cream and salt, beat to combine. Using a large spatula, fold in the chopped Oreo cookies.
Divide batter evenly among the cookie-filled muffin cups, fill each cup almost to the top. Bake, rotating muffin tins halfway through, until the filling is set, about 22 to 28 minutes. Transfer the muffins tins to a wire rack to cool completely. Refrigerate (in the muffin tins) at least 4 hours (or overnight). Remove from tins just before serving.

Last August while in Utah, I got to ketchup with my lovely cousin Mike and his beautiful wife, Andrea Fowler. Andrea was about 7 months pregnant at this time. (They didn't find out the sex of the babe, so we we took bets on when it would arrive and how big it would be, as well as what parts it would have.)

We even did that needle experiment to see if it was going to be a boy or a girl.

(I got that part right. All boy!)

Mike and I are both October babies and always celebrated our week apart Birthdays together. Imagine our excitement when Baby Harrison was born October 3rd!

Mike and his Family live in Fargo. Yes. People live...in Fargo. A couple weeks ago I was finally able to meet the little guy when they came to California for vacation. It was love at first sight. And let me tell you guys...this baby is the BEST! He barely cried while we babysat him...and when he did...I had my best friend Cody rock him to sleep while dancing to nursery rhymes. (P.s. Cody is a baby whisperer. Who would've thought?!)

I can't wait to see this little babe grow up. Im still trying to convince them to move back to Southern California...which shoulnd't be hard. Did I mention they live in Fargo right now? So Fowlers, pack up. Move back. And bring your kid with you. Or send him FedEx. I promise, Cody and I would take great care of him!

After two years as a nanny, today was my very last day with the kids.

This is Campbell when I first started working for them.

I have watched this little man grow teeth, sprout hair, take first steps, learn words, and bust some sweet moves while dancing to primary hymns. Yes, you read that right. 'Give said the little stream' is definitely a rockin jam. I will miss watching him learn to swim, play with legos, watch thomas the train episodes, (over & over) eat pb&j, and take very long peaceful naps. (Which didn't happen nearly enough).

The kids have taught me a lot about life. For instance, how short it is. In the blink of an eye, the toddler you know and love, will grow up into a little boy using big words like "gently" and "exceptional". (I really truly don't know where he comes up with these things. I had no idea Dora the explorer was so fluent in fancy words!)

The experience I have taken by being with this sweet family has put me ahead of the game when I eventually start a family of my own. I know how to change diapers, (nasty, and/or leaking), But more importantly, I learned how to potty train an adventurous 2 year old. I now know that just because they are cleaning their room, it doesn't mean that it is actually happening. I learned that too much TV, an overdose of sugar, and no nap, can lead to very large tantrums and loss of bodily functions. I can recognize the signs of small frustrations and little victories coming from a 6 year old. I can teach a 5 year old how to tie her shoes, a 2 year old to not scream, and a 4 year old how to play basketball (rules included.)

Although the time has come to move on to different life experiences that will include a new occupation, I will always remember my time with the little ones. I didn't teach a classroom full of students, but I DID teach them life skills and common sense. I didn't perform surgeries, but I DID kiss many booboos and apply many band aids. I didn't make 5 course meals, but I DID create healthy meals so they could grow big and strong. I Didn't solve equations, but I DID complete the task of problem solving with a carpool of 5 children. I didn't make millions of dollars, but I DID gain priceless lovin and experience that I will cherish forever.

I am so grateful and glad that I could be there with them and see them grow into beautiful individuals with a zest for happiness and a joyful spirit. I love them dearly, and I hope that in the future they will sit around and talk amoungst themselves about the coolest nanny they all enjoyed named Cat.

I can only hope they will say nice things, and conveniently forget the time that Cat lost her marbles and sang Glee in the car for a week, or made quesidillas for a good portion of the 2 years. Hey, im not Mary Poppins....besides, I would never be caught dead walking around in that hideous white outfit. BY THE WAY- a spoonful of sugar does NOT make the medicine go down...just...in case you were wondering.

Little bunny Foo Foo

It all started with a beautiful home grown garden. Full of crops like strawberries, lettuce, tomatoes, squash, carrots and potatoes. You see, a garden is not just a garden when you have 5 children. It is a learning experience to teach them how to take care of things. How to plant, water, and eventually reap the benefits of growing fresh produce. They enjoyed planting for the first 2 minutes, they complain about watering, but they really do enjoy eating. Surprises all around!

Although eventually, like every happy organic story there is an interesting event that Cat isn't expecting. And to her dismay, it wasn't all that surprising. We were visited by a bunny. And this bunny had 10 fingers and 10 toes, with blonde hair and named Campbell. He isn't hairy. But apparently he was curious, and hungry. And then just as soon as he came, he left.

Hes not very good at destroying the evidence, something ill have to teach him to prepare him for his teenage years.

So now we say a prayer of thanks to our baby carrot fallen soldiers. They had a good life. They grew, they saw and they conquered.

I guess the saying is true...nothing is safe in the presence of a 2 year old.

Good thing hes so gosh darn cute. Or else I would have to put bunny in a corner.

Rock my Band

I am not a huge fan of video games. Call of Duty? No. Madden Football? Shay Shay. But there IS one video game that I am a complete sucker for. Rock Band and Guitar Hero. (Hey, actually that is two! Maybe I AM a video gamer.)

I first discovered these when they came out about 4 years ago. My Brother-In-Law Lance had all the fixins, guitars, microphones and then eventually drums. Julie and I would go over to visit and stay up for hours taking our band (DABS) everywhere from Los Angeles to Tokyo. We almost peed our pants when we were awarded a tour van, bus, and then the ultimate, a private jet!

The accomplishment of making a band and being successful is so stressful but also so rewarding. When else can you play songs from the Strokes, and The Who?! And you know what...the crowd always loved us. Those little avatars swaying back and forth singing along...I would do anything for my fans. Have you ever tried the Beatles edition? Now THERE is a good time.

I hadn't played it for awhile, basically because I got a job, and a life...but that need to jam out with the Rock Gods always lingered. Recently I decided to join the cult again with my bestie Cody Raptor. And that is when we constructed the group, RAPCAT featuring Whitney and Nate. We even let Colleen try out a song, but she almost died and blammed the buttons. Never again will we invite an outsider to jam out with the best. She doesn't take the jam sessions very seriously, anyways!!!

And there you have it. Don't play this game if you want to have a life, friends, or keep your sanity. It will not happen. I didn't sell my soul to the devil, I sold it for the spirit of keeping the music alive. And I WILL keep rocking on.

I really love that they have known eachother since they were born.  Nothing says friendship like pooping in your pants together and eating  pureed carrots.

Recently they were having problems in nursery being too "physically  friendly". I caught them kissing and had to tell Noah that we don't kiss  our friends, we only give hugs. His reply was, "But shes my best  friend, and I like her lips."

Can you imagine 12 years from now, them going to the high school prom? I want to cry just thinking about it. And I want them to get married just so that I can tell them I witnessed the beginning of their love. Do Mormons believe in arranged marriages? Who cares, im making it happen.

I am a Nanny, Monday-Friday. With that comes some moments where I think to myself..."I have read more doctor seuss this month than The book of Mormon." or... "I have missed the last 3 episodes of the Bachelor, but I have caught every days roll of Dora the Explorer". And let me tell you, kids television programs aren't what they used to be. (Doug and Rugrats, anyone?!)

There is a special program that my little tykes watch that I don't mind seeing everyday. Maybe you have heard of the FRESH BEAT BAND? Let me give you a lowdown. It is a live-action musical sitcom set with original pop songs produced for Nick Jr. Stars Shout, Twist, Marina, and Kiki are the Fresh Beats, described as four best friends in a band who go to music school together and love to sing and dance. No really, those are theyre names...Shout, Twist, Marina and Kiki.

After watching it for a straight 6 months, I realized I enjoyed it. And then this very special segment aired. And you know how much I love my Bieber.

I can't tell you exactly why I like this bunch. Besides the fact that they keep the kids entertained until Cat can focus on something other than the neverending pile of laundry or dishes.

They dress the same every episode, they are way too happy for words, and they sing about everything. But I LOVE it. The last song they sing every episode is called "Great day". And after hearing this every day, I truly convince myself that it WILL be a great day. And guess what? It works. BTW- this will be stuck in your brain until the end of time.

And those Nickelodeon people really know what they are doing with that casting. These boys are easy on the eyes. A perk for mothers everywhere. Just sayin...

Melanie Warner. My best friend. Is engaged. It started off like any other Friday...until I got this little gem.

At this point I peed my pants, screamed and then started planning our ninja attack.

So much planning...I was so afraid I was going to miss it. Cody and i were at the temple an hour early just to make sure. I made him go practice our spotting and aim.

(By the way...we were literally hiding in bushes. I am still seriously surprised that Temple security didn't come out to see about our paparazzi shenanigans.)

All of a sudden, Cody looks at me and whispers "THEY ARE HERE! THIS IS IT!" We crouch behind our post and I start shooting away. I could tell she didn't know why they were there, but I knew Jacob looked nervous.

They talked for about 3 minutes...and then things got magical.

Through tears and goosebumps I don't know how I managed to get about 40 photos of this, but God is good!

They kissed, smiled, kissed, smiled, giggled, kissed, hugged...and then JB spilled the beans that Cody and I were there. Somewhere...(seriously our hiding spot was legit.)

I have never seen Melanie that happy before. Her smile radiated off of her face. Looking at them deciding to make a huge commitment to each other for eternity, was pure happiness. I can't think of two people who deserve each other more. I know they will have an everlasting and successful marriage, filled with a deeper appreciation, more kissing and eventually cute babies.

And just like that...Jamel begins their journey. Im passing the baton to you, Mr. Barlow. Make her the happiest woman on the planet. Your already off to an amazing start!

I have officially been in the G7 singles ward for a year. It feels like it flew by fast, and as if I have always been there. The G7 ward is not like your typical BYU singles ward where your whole relief society presidency lives next door. These people are from all around the area. Hollywood to Duarte. We are there. And it is truly amazing. Skip down memory lane with me for a second.

Ive done a lot of growing up these past 2 weeks. Okay fine, I only did ONE thing adult-ish. I got a passport. (WAIT! Thats a lie. I also renewed my AAA account.) WHOA. Serious. big. steps.

In October my friend Brandt asked a couple of us in the singles ward if we wanted to participate in a Ragnar Relay in April. Its a 200 mile relay from Huntington Beach to Coronado. 12 people on your team, separated into 2 vans. Running for 30 hours straight. It sounded like a blast so we signed up and paid quickly feeling really excited. We had 7 months to train, and by then we would be in amazing shape!

...After 6 months passed by, I realized I should probably start running. First mistake. As it got closer I became really nervous about the whole deal. Along the way we heard stories about people getting hit from drunk drivers and passing out from heat. This was NOT helping my anxiety. The night before the race I asked my Dad for a blessing (yes, it was necessary) and we went grocery shopping, and picked up our rental vans. Ragnar to Riches was ready! Prepared or not...it was happening.

When we got to our first location, our other van of teammates had already finished their first legs. God bless them, they had been up since 4:30! We decorated our van and got checked in, also sitting through a safety instruction that made me more nervous than putting me at ease.

Brandt kicked us off by running 7.3 miles. By this time, it was getting pretty hot and we were all feeling the adrenaline of finishing our first run. Lets do this!

My first leg was 6 miles and it was pretty challenging. It was 89 degrees and the track was a lot of uphill. I was dehydrated and losing ambition. BUT I made it (with the help of the sweetest, Max, who distracted me with uplifting conversation.)

After this, I felt good about myself, but I still had my worries.

After cheering each other on, (and a lot of strangers,) we met our other van to make them run for a bit!

It was then, that we got spaghetti and got to lay in a field in the middle of nowhere to receive some much needed sleep. We probably got 30 minutes, tops. It was time to run our night legs!

My night run was 2 miles and the best leg of all. We all had incredible times for our nightly runs and after that course we were all stirred up with excitement. The coolness of the air and the black of the night was exactly what we needed to get pumped up. (This is also where some of our best one liners, and delirious comments came into picture).

We then went and slept in a field in La Jolla. It was 4:30am at this point and we did not care at all where we would lay, as long as we had our sleeping bags. We got a good 4 hours of sleep and then awaited our other van to complete our last legs!

We were still pretty tired at this point but seeing our other team van come in and having them being done, made us extremely excited (and a little jealous.......okay a lot).

We ran through La Jolla and downtown San Diego for our last legs. A lot of us had great views down by the water while running and the weather was really nice. As each of us completed our last legs the feeling of relief after they were done was what pushed us on to continue to carry on! The end was in sight.

My last leg was 5.2 miles and was a nice course. Handing over that baton (slap bracelet) to the last runner was a feeling ill never forget. I was finished! DONE&DONE!

We then drove to meet our last runner and fellow team mates to run across the finish line together. We did it!!! As the DJ was calling out our team name and the song playing was "Put your hands in the air" I think our emotions were at an all time high. We took pictures and drank in the sweet taste of victory. It felt SO GOOD. I had a new respect for all of my team mates. As I looked around, the lovely smiles on their faces, was all that I needed.

My pent up excitement and adrenaline, mixed with the sweet feeling of accomplishment drew me to tears. I had accomplished something I never thought I could. Doubting myself along the way, I proved myself wrong. I AM capable of hard things. With faith and perseverance, I can do things that are difficult. I came, I saw, I conquered. And Holy Hannah, does THAT feel good, or what?!

Here is Noah- (3 years old)

(Look at that little smile! What a cutie.)

Noah and I were playing outside in the backyard the other day when we saw a snail. I explained to Noah that I ate a few of those on the cruise that I just went on, and that they were called escargot.

Fast forward a week later and the little boys were outside playing. I went out to push them on the swings and asked what they were doing.

Noahs reply- "Me and Campbell are eating ESCOCO!

Big OOOPS. Nanny fail. Next time I will be sure to explain these things in detail...with pictures. God bless him! Luckily, they had only eaten 1 each. Noah also told me that they would have tasted better with some salt. What a trooper!

Talented Mr. Ambriz

Let me introduce you to Marcello. He is my good friend who I also attend the g7 singles ward with. Marcello takes pictures.

The only time I see him without a camera is at church, but he still has his iphone! I really love all the shots he posts on his website. He never seizes to amaze me with his creativity and talent. He specializes in photographing bands and concerts, but he takes pictures of everything, weddings, children, landscapes, the man has no limits! Here are some of my favorites.

And if that talent isn't enough, he also made a music video for the very amazing band Eyes Lips Eyes. (Also in my singles ward).

sushi sushi sushi

I was turning 22 and I had never tried sushi. Ill pause, while you judge me. Are you done? Good.

So on my Birthday last year, my BFF Melanie, took me to her favorite raw fish spot.

My first experience wasn't so successful.

As you can see, I needed some practice with chopsticks. Rookie mistake.

After my first introduction, I have regretted wasting 22 years of my life for never having this special dish in my life. My favorites include the philly deep roll, the dragon roll and the cali roll with shrimp tempura.

It doesn't look like much. But I promise, it will change your life.

Since October it has been our favorite place to go eat. I have probably eaten there once a week. I see mercury poisoning in my future. They also have the best birthday celebration , and you know how much we love humiliating our friends!

Some of our most fond memories include being here. Like the time with the orange...Remember Cexilly and Raptor?

Our only friend that didn't approve of our sushi loving is our dearest, Liz Dunn. But that is probably due to the fact that she dissected the rolls and cut the fish with her chopsticks. Yes, you read that right. ohhhh, Liz dunn...

So there you have it. Ichima Sushi in Pasadena, California. And they aren't even paying me for this shout out! But maybe they should. Hey, guys! Xie Xie!!! Cat = biggest fan.

So I have been introduced to this little game called "Words with friends". Basically its scrabble. Very addicting scrabble.

I played with Peyton and won him the first time.

He challenged me to 2 out of 3.

2nd time...he beat me.

between all this craziness...there was some harmless smack talk. Keyword: Harmless. I'm sorry. You are NOT a punk....Kind of.

But in the end...3rd games is a charm. Cat beat Peyton.

Thats right, I am the champion.

Even though he lost...(twice) He played his words right with my heart and played this little gem.

Way to go, Mr. Buhler. You are a winner.
